One Lone Conservative's Reality in a Sea of Liberal Delusion's
...By a protester who protested the protesters!

The date.... August 29th, the time..bout 11 am, the place...New York City; against the backdrop of America's key city, a legion of protesters hit the streets in an effort to show their disgust with everything from the War on Terror, the Invasions of both Iraq and Afghanistan, American Superpower status (ecconomicly and militarily) and a host of other "perceived " wrongs against the world. In fact there wasn't any area left un-protested from religion to gay rights to the military being nothing more than killers of civilians. But in the protesters minds...all roads lead to the Bush administration. The "protest" march was organised by United for Peace and Justice...another far-left group associated with the likes of International A.N.S.W.E.R., and Code Pink...but these were some of the big names...but there were others...and although we in this country have the right to assemble peacefully...the protesters were anything but that.

How do I know...simple I was there walking along with them...protesting as they were...shouting as they were...pointing at my sign like they did...feeling euphoric in part like they did for exercising my right to peaceful protest. One little( or big) difference is that while they were protesting nearly everything under the sun having to do with America, the President, capitalism, etc....Myself...along with bout 300 others decided to give the media..and the thousands of onlookers lining the sides of the route what the protesters were really like. Now Initially we planned on slipping in to the protest enmass....but police wouldnt allow us in recommending that we follow them from the back out of concern for our saftey. Never known to do the safe thing....we essentially began breaking into small groups and sending them down a few blocks from out gathering point...after bout 20 mins of this...my group entered the protesters....noticing another of our groups a short distance ahead we moved casually and steady till we reached them...it took bout a block and a half before the Tainted Kool-Aid drinking people realized who we were...it was only a matter of time before a clusterfuck was in effect...slowly they began with questioning our rights..and my parentage...then it was the chanting of colorful slurs...personally being called a skin head (and here I thought the shaved head look was in...go figure) but the worst hit us in the form of black clad, bandana covering their face thugs....they began violently attacking our group in waves...and quite a few of us were pulled bout 20ft away from the group to be encircled and assaulted by them...this includes the women of our group....so much for the unwritten rule of not hitting women....`the reports from all of our mini-groups came out the same....attempts at luring our members out to be "interviewed" only to become gang assaulted....while some of the media got it covered on camera....we got every punch, kick, spitting, attempts at stealing/destroying our signs/flags on both still and video as we had our own people spread out through the whole route and with each group...

When it became apparent that we were in danger of being seriously hurt....the NYPD to their credit swept in to create a barrier around us and move us out of the danger zone. They repeated this several times until all our groups made it out of the useful idiot zone. For a while after that, we split into 2 large groups with one at the end of the route...for my group...we stayed at the back and hung around talking to the cops (who had no love for the protesters...fist bumps were done in some instances) giving interviews to a wide array of "reporters" smiling and joking for a bit with all....that is till the "cardboard coffin" march began to pass us....several in our group were current active duty military and had been in Iraq/Afghan so this upset them...they sat there saluting for over an hour...the rest of us right hands over our hearts...most of us including the soldiers/marines with us were in tears. The protesters found this somehow a laughing matter and preceeded to make light of it. So much for showing respect for those who died while serving...but then if they had any respect for those who have served or are currently...they would never have dont it in the first place.

While myself and the other members of Protest Warrior knew full well what we were getting into...what we uncovered only reaffirmed our previous conclusions. They routinely use thug tactics to silence any dissent...any idea they might find even remotely opposite of theirs. They believe America is the root cause of all the evils of the world and find patriotism revolting. While we think they are completely off their rocker as it were...we would defend their right to their opins and their right to peacefully assemble...but I am at a loss as to why they constantly omit "Peacefully" from their mission statement...must be an oversight.

One final note...my friend Karl was one of a few of us carrying a flag...the one he was carrying was an American flag given to him by a vetrans group and had sentimental value....he was attacked during the march by no less than 5 leftist thugs who restrained him while they yanked it out of his hands....the last thing we all saw after their repeated spitting on it and tearing it up was an attempt to set it on fire. I often wonder if since Im republican and accused of being a storm trooper, why the left uses stromtrooper tactics with their own thugs when we didnt even attempt to steal their signs, rip their flags up ( there were many flags they carried, cuba, ussr, iran, syrian, north korean....and no I'm not making this up)...might be we are better than they...we atleast respect peaceful yet intelligent debate....too bad we found that those left-wing protesters we're somewhat lacking in both!

Personally Craig, if you are going to stick your head in a lion's mouth then you may loose it.

Why it is neccessary for a bunch of republicans to join a march , which is protesting their party as much as anything. Looks to me like you went looking for it.

I would have to say you got what you deserve.

I am sure that if a bunch of right wingers and conservatives went marching down the street in these numbers, and where infiltrated by your equal on the left the same would happen, of course these would not be left wing thugs, no I am sure they would be patriots.

You can make anything look the way you want it if you just try hard enough.

If I had been in that march and come across some right wing agitator, I doubt I would be very hospitable towards them either.

Having said this ANY VIOLENCE is not to be defended, and when one marches againt war and injustice, it is always a good idea to show that you mean it by example, to that end I am totally appalled by what has happened to you guys, but like i said, if you don't want trouble, don't look for it.

That was a strange story..it must been like a living nitemare..im not really surprised at the violence you mentioned, those clowns are against the war and theyll beat the crap out of any one who disagrees with them..they would sure come in handy on the front line..isnt that ironic. Peace with a fist.

First off Zerg....we had a permit to march the same route either after them or with them...it was up to us...with that said...are you saying that we dont have a right to exercise free speech?

I am sure that if a bunch of right wingers and conservatives went marching down the street in these numbers, and where infiltrated by your equal on the left the same would happen,

Zerg..yet again you miss the point...our group like most of the grassroots conservative ones sprouting up everywhere now stress one key thing...non-violence....which is kinda ironic as the left used to believe in that sort of rally ideals....now of course they dont...they prefer the same tactics used by the segragationists of the south in the 50's and 60's...and just for the record...we got bout 10 protesters who crossedover and joined us because of how disgusted they were at the attitude and actions of the overwhelming majority of those they were marching with....and our group maybe considered "conservative" but the reality is that we have gay/straight, males/females, dem/rep/indi.....and our group is not alone....this is being repeated across the country by other groups as well for one simple reason....we will not sit by and let the left be unopposed...they are the vocal minority...not majority regardless of what you have read....

I put it to you..next time there is another protest like this one....heres something you might want to do...enter the march, keep your eyes open and take in the "freedom" they push...just might surprise you

For those who would care to take a gander at our groups site..feel free..its free...(we fund ourselves...unlike the left...we dont have soros and kerry to fund us).....we should have video and pics uploaded soon from the nyc rally....but we got plenty from other rallies on it already....check it out....the link is under Pro-US Groups under my favs

If this were to happen, I highly doubt the same would occur.  Also, I must say I am sick to death with the cop out of "I bet they would do the same thing."  Do you think it was right to suppress anyone's free speech?  If no, then don't make any excuses like "you were looking for trouble."  That sounds way too much like the guy saying "That girl was looking to be raped because she was wearing skimpy clothes around a bunch of rednecks."  Why on Earth should anyone expect to get physically assaulted at a "peaceful" protest?

I didn't keep track, how much civil disobedience was caused by pro-Bush protesters in Boston?

I think if you asked, the asshats that are the most problems at these events hate BOTH parties, and are just the same old G-8 meeting anarchists and soccer hooligans.

Most assuredly, though, I think everyone would agree that were it their event, they'd much prefer the average Republican protest crowd to the alternative...

Baker...I cant agree with that statement more.....

Jill...lol....I used to ask myself that a long time ago.....but that was before I began counter protesting and saw what they really stand for......most enlightening......

...on a sidenote...many were openly breaking the law during the march.....arson, and the covering of ones face in a march is against NY law...but then again only those who choose to support the goverment and the troops are mandated to obey the law...the left does what it wants

It's been my experience, from college on, that the far left is even less tolerant than the really really far right.

The differnece is that the really far right (the skin heads and such) have been shamed out of massively protesting and are so harshly scrutinized by the media that they can't get away with gestapo type behavior.

By contrast, the far left is numerous and has the "mainstream" media willing to look the other way.

So as a practical matter, the left has become increasingly intolerant, and willing to be flagrant in their intolerance towards dissenting opinion.

I see it here on JoeUser.  The ones who are quickest to resort to spewing hate and venom (and I don't say this lightly, I mean people using excessive amounts of profanity and hatefilled insults) are nearly always far left.

The closest thing to a really kooky right winger here IMO is Marvin and he doesn't exactly have a fan group amongst conservatives.  But the hate filled left wingers who pop up not only are more numerous but often get moral support from the non-hate filled far left wingers.  The left wing will put up with their own brand of fascists as long as they have the correct positions.

It's stuff like this, and the pure uneducated fervor with which many of my friends attack events and issues that is pushing me more and more towards the middle. I can not stand extremists of either side, but it seems that lately the left has more than its fair share. It sickens me to hear about having the flag torn up and burned, or to have the saluting and crying over the coffin mocked by the crowd. If you can not protest something in a civil, educated, and non-violent manner, then you shouldn't be out there protesting.

Hate is hate, I don't care where on the political spectrum you sit, hate is still the same. You are no better being far left and assaulting conservatives and burning the flag than you are being far right and plotting the reemergence of the "master race". There is no correct political position that excuses this sort of behavior/

Draginol.....exactly....and I would also like to put forth the theory that because of their behavior....the left has already signaled their downfall....across the country, real grassroots conservative/pro-america groups are sprouting up like a bumper crop of tomatos...(everyone loves tomatos)..most unlike the pseudo "grassroots" groups of the left...(soros contributing money doesnt equal a grassroots group) the ones on the other side of the coin as it were are growing in number and are truely confronting the left through peaceful means...I await the day when the left cry once more bout their vanishing voice...only this time it would be for real and not a pr trick

Zoomba...my point exactly...prob why 10 of the protesters became so disgusted at seeing the lengths those they marched with would go to silence any sort of dissenting opinion that they joined our group...where we may differ on certain opins in the group...we all advocate peaceful assembly where anyone regardless of their views can be heard....I would also like to add that after the march many of our group were caught in a battle of wits as it were by some of the protesters...while our members disagreed over much of what the left said...our tone was both polite and soft toned....by comparison...the left elected to argue at the top of their lungs constantly going in circles never adding fact one...just memorized rhetoric......
